Last year I had a heavy focus on shooting analog at weddings. This led me to the opportunity to shoot a wedding at Camp Hale in Colorado entirely on film as an associate photographer for Sarah Kay Photography. Everything you see here is a mixture of 35mm and medium format.

Why Film?
Film has a place in my heart and my couples hearts for a few reasons.
For couples who want a film wedding photographer, part of it is the nostalgia. Most of us had our childhoods and our parents lives documented on film, and so seeing our own memories on that same format brings out a deep sense of nostalgia and happiness. Another reason for film is the tangible aspect. Unlike digital, pixels recording light in 0s and 1s, film uses a physical chemical process to capture light. When I shoot film at a wedding, I not only digitize the photos for online viewing, but I also give my couples a little glass heirloom box of prints and the original film negatives. It is a way to make sure your photos don’t have a collect digital dust online and creates a space to frequently pull out your memories to look at them again. The third reason is the obvious being in that film is just beautiful. Every film stock is unique in its own way. And every film camera captures moments slightly different. But film is and will always be a timeless and beautiful way to document your most important memories.
