Earlier this summer, I had the opportunity to film a wedding at the Orchard Wedding Venue in Hood River. This venue was absolutely phenomenal and this wedding was filled with the sweetest things in each detail. The ceremony location is surrounded by the flowers of the orchard, raspberry treats were served at cocktail hour, golden hour was spent in the vineyard, and the guests danced into the evening with a view of mountains on every side. The Orchard will absolutely go in my books as one of my favorite places to document a wedding celebration for the intentionality in the details of the venue and effortless beauty the location holds.
This wedding video is shot on a combination of super 8mm film and digital footage. I love hybrid films like this for many reasons. The candid audio and unlimited footage is a love of digital for me. But the sweet soft nostalgia of the vintage super 8 is something irreplaceable in its own way. My focus is very documentary style and candid focused. I started in filmmaking as someone who was simply passionate about the nostalgia of home films. As I have honed in my craft and gotten better, that natural feel is still my main pursuit. My couples are very down to earth and put deep value on the real and raw. Even if you are getting married at a luxury venue in black tie attire, it is the emotions and real moments that ultimately you will treasure as the decades pass.
