Snow King Mountain Resort is the wedding venue for couples who love the mountains and want to celebrate their story in Jackson Hole. Perched above the town of Jackson, this venue gives you a perspective of the Tetons and the valley that most people only experience if they’re avid hikers or skiers. You ride a gondola to your ceremony. You exchange vows overlooking the entire Teton Range. You watch the sun drop behind jagged peaks while your guests sip cocktails above the valley floor.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels elevated both physically and experientially, this is one of the most unforgettable venues in Jackson Hole. In this guide, I am going to walk you through every logistic of getting married at Snow King.

Snow King Mountain Resort Wedding Venue in Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Located right in the heart of Jackson, Snow King Mountain Resort rises above town and overlooks the entire Jackson Hole valley. It’s known as a local ski mountain in the winter, but in the warmer months, it transforms into one of the most impressive wedding venues in the Tetons.
One of the most unique aspects of getting married here is that your guests ride a gondola to your ceremony. The gondola ride itself is SUCH an iconic and unique way to start your wedding. As guests got to the top there was a lot of excited talk about it. For this wedding that I photographed, Snow King had a table a drinks for guests to enjoy as they rode up the mountain. It is about an five minute ride to the top.
At the summit, the views open up completely. You’re looking directly out at the Teton Range with Jackson stretching below you. It’s panoramic and dramatic and immediately sets the tone for a celebration that feels immersive.

Ceremony at the Summit Amphitheater at Snow King Mountain Resort
Snow King recently created a ceremony amphitheater at the summit. It’s just a short walk down a paved path from the gondola, making it accessible while still feeling tucked into the mountain.
For guests with mobility needs and older individuals, golf carts are available to transport them from the gondola to the ceremony space. They also use these to bring the couple down just before the ceremony begins. The employees at Snow King were very efficient and helpful in getting guests organized at the top. That kind of logistical support makes a big difference at a mountain venue, and something I saw appreciated and recognized by those attending.
The ceremony space overlooks the entire Jackson Hole valley and the Tetons beyond. It’s one of those views that makes your jaw drop. Even having grown up skiing here, it is a view that never gets old. When I photographed a wedding here, so many guests were completely enamored. Many of them had never been up a mountain like this unless they were hikers or skiers. One of the couples I worked with chose Snow King specifically because of how much they loved this view during ski season. It already meant something to them and they wanted their loved ones to experience it as well.
Light and Weather at the Summit
For afternoon ceremonies, the lighting sits somewhere between full sun and slightly backlit. It’s bright and open, with the mountains creating dimension in the background.
Wind can occasionally move through at this elevation, so it’s worth planning hairstyles and attire with that in mind.
In the fall and early spring, occasionally late afternoon showers will show up. This has never been an actual issue on a day I have photographed, even being so exposed. Worst case scenario, the ceremony can be moved into the Summit House. A little further in this I will elaborate more on the seasons you should get married here.

Reception at Summit House & Aurora Restaurant
After the outdoor ceremony, the celebration transitions to the Summit House.
Outdoor Space
The rooftop pad outside is perfect for cocktail hour. Guests can continue enjoying the open air and mountain views while sipping drinks and reconnecting. Those wanting can also go walk on the lawn under the summit house, although I still think the view from the rooftop is one of the best.
Indoor Space
For dinner and dancing, the event moves indoors to the Aurora Restaurant & Summit House space. This reception area features a stunning glass wall of windows facing the mountains, which means you can watch the sunset over the Tetons as the evening unfolds.
There’s a natural flow to the layout. If you are entering this area directly from the rooftop via the stairs, as you enter this space you will find yourself between two areas – a cocktail lounge to your right, and a dinner and dancing area to your left.
As you walk in, on your left there is a built-in stage. This provides the perfect setup for a live band or DJ. In front of this stage is the large dance floor. Tables are strategically arranged around this to accommodate larger guest counts, while allowing the evening to move seamlessly from dinner to speeches to dancing.
Facing the other direction, there are also lounge areas outside of the main dance floor and dining area. This gives guests room to step away for conversation while still feeling connected to the energy of the night. This is where you find the cocktail bar.
If weather shifts unexpectedly at any point in your day, this indoor space also works beautifully as a continuation of cocktail hour.

Wedding Photos at Snow King Mountain Resort
If that soft evening light of sunset looks like it is approaching, it is a great time to take wedding photos at Snow King Resort. This is typically when I’ll gently pull couples away, near the end of cocktail hour, for portraits. Guests are transitioning inside, conversations are flowing, and we get a few quiet moments on the mountain while the sky changes color. Because you’re elevated, you’re watching the sunset from a perspective most people only get from an airplane.
And once the sun disappears, something even more enamoring happens. This is when you can see the car lights winding from Grand Teton National Park back toward town, like a glowing thread through the valley. It is a sweet way to ground yourself on your wedding day and get a few moments alone, away from the music and crowd, and take in the view.

Best Time of Year for a Snow King Mountain Resort Wedding
Snow King’s elevation plays a significant role in seasonal planning. Each season has its perks and drawbacks.
Fall (Mid September – Early October)
Fall is absolutely stunning here. You get views of changing leaves both across the valley and on the summit of Snow King, crisp mountain air, and dramatic golden tones. Early September can occasionally carry lingering wildfire smoke, which may create haze over the Tetons, but evening rain showers often clear it out. September is one of the fastest booked out times for getting married at Snow King (and to be honest, pretty much all of the venues in Jackson Hole). If this is your desired month, definitely jump on planning!
Summer (Mid July – Early September)
Summer is beautiful in Jackson Hole. If you are looking for the most available activities for your wedding week, this would be the time to get married. GTNP lakes are warmer, it’s the start of fishing season, most hikes are melted off until high elevation, and the town is bustling. The biggest drawback to summer is the heat and smoke season. Smoke blows in from Montana, Oregon, and California’s summer wildfires, and often gets caught against the Teton Range. Wind and rain clears it out, but the further away you are from the mountains, the more hazed out they get. Because of Snow King’s elevation and the longer summer days (and hot sun that comes from it), it isn’t my first season to recommend for getting married in Jackson Hole. It is beautiful though.
Spring (June & Early July)
June and early July are some of the best months to get married in the Tetons. Snow has mostly melted, wildflowers are popping everywhere in the valley, and visibility is typically strong.
Spring weddings are wonderful, but at this elevation, snow can still linger later than couples expect. It’s worth planning carefully if you’re considering early in this season.
If I had to recommend the strongest overall months for Snow King weddings: early July and mid September are hard to beat.
Winter (October – May)
If you want a SKI wedding, this is your timeeee. Jackson Hole starts to get snow in October, and ski season typically opens up in time for Thanksgiving. You could have a bundled up outdoor ceremony, boots on ready to strap on your skis for your exit down the “aisle,” wedding party ready to crush it with you down the slopes. Or you could have a cozy ceremony inside, ski for fun for those photos and memories, and head back into the lodge to finish up your evening with dancing. If you want the best snow for this, you should get married at Snow King Ski Resort around late January or February. For ski bums, a winter wedding here would be such a fun way to spend a week celebrating.
Planning Logistics for a Snow King Mountain Resort Wedding
Mountain weddings require thoughtful timing. Snow King runs extremely smoothly when communication is clear.
Gondola Timing
Guests must take the gondola up to the summit for the ceremony. The resort has a recommended window of time for this based on your ceremony that coordinates with the other vendors’ set up. This is typically an hour! To make this work, a firm cutoff time was communicated to all guests. Anyone who arrived too late for the designated gondola departure would miss the ceremony. They could still go up, but would miss the big “I do” on the mountain. Additionally, the family and wedding party had their own ride up time early. This allowed for private photos and moments without guests.
This may sound intense, but it keeps everything on schedule, and the gondola staff is incredibly kind and organized.
One thoughtful touch: the couple arranged for small drinks to be served at the base while guests waited to board. It turned the transition into part of the celebration rather than a logistical chore.
My biggest recommendation: build buffer time into your timeline and communicate clearly with guests.
Where to Stay for a Snow King Mountain Resort Wedding
Most guests stay in Jackson Hole to be close to the venue and enjoy the town.
Some great options include:
- Snow King Resort Hotel & Luxury Residences
- Rustic Inn Creekside Resort & Spa
- The Lodge at Jackson Hole
- Anvil Hotel
Availability in Jackson fills quickly, especially during peak summer and fall months, so encourage guests to book early!
For more affordable or longer stays, many guests look toward nearby Idaho towns like Driggs and Tetonia. There are lots of Airbnbs here for both small and large parties. Some areas in Driggs also give you a straight on view of the Tetons in your backyard. However, staying in Jackson keeps everyone close to the heart of town, restaurants, and quick access to both Grand Teton and Yellowstone.
Things to Do Near Snow King Mountain Resort in Jackson Hole
A Snow King wedding can easily become a full wedding weekend experience.
While in Jackson, guests can:
- Grab a drink at the iconic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar
- Go white water rafting on the Snake River
- Take a scenic wildlife tour
- Go horseback riding
- Swim in alpine lakes inside Grand Teton National Park
- Take a boat ride across Jenny Lake

There is no shortage of adventure here. If guests have the flexibility, I always always always recommend turning it into a longer stay. Jackson Hole is not a one-day kind of place!!

Who Is Snow King Mountain Resort Perfect For?
Snow King is an elevated experience.
It works beautifully for higher-end weddings where guest experience is a priority. The venue can accommodate a wide range of guest counts and adapts well to both black tie celebrations and more relaxed mountain gatherings.
The couples who align most with this venue tend to love the outdoors – skiing, hiking, mountains – and want to combine epic Teton views with a polished, seamless wedding day.
It’s the most epic wedding venue in all Jackson Hole.
Jackson Hole Photography and Videography Packages
I grew up just outside of Jackson Hole, and this landscape shaped how I see the world! I believe the best things in life aren’t things – they’re people and experiences. And photo and video is the best way to immortalize these precious memories.
My approach to photographing weddings at Snow King is heavily documentary and candid-forward. I care deeply about the lived experience of the day and the emotions felt. With my earlier stated feelings about the important things in life, I have found that is something my couples align heavily with as well. You find great joy in sharing experiences with your loved ones. You crave a day that isn’t full of forced posing or fake smiles. The wedding isn’t for the photographs. The photographs are to remind you of how beautiful life is as it unfolds.
I’m here to preserve the energy of the mountain, the emotions of the people you love most, and the scale of the place you chose to begin your marriage.
