My cousins have this tradition of watching old home movies at Christmas time.
And every year, I'll get a string of texts with little video clips from our childhood summers and holidays spent running around together, videos of us jumping onto air mattresses in our grandma's basement, and the sound of my grandpa's accordion playing Christmas jingles. I see my little sister giggling uncontrollably, something I cannot hear anymore after her passing. There's my siblings and I camping with my parents, all of us missing some teeth and looking a little awkward in our growing limbs, a time long gone. And then there's this one video of my mom and dad, cuddled up on the couch a few months after they got married. It's a video of the young love of two people I care about that makes me smile.
