Seward Alaska wedding photographer, beach wedding in Seward Alaska

Seward Alaska is a place that is completely unmatched in its beauty. Stone pillars rising out of the ocean like cathedrals, a dark ocean dotted with chunks of icebergs, misty pine mountains, and northern lights make it a place that I have been daydreaming about for years. So when I met Cody and Ingrid and they said they needed a wedding photographer for their intimate wedding in Seward Alaska, I quite nearly died of excitement.

I met them when they came up to Grand Teton National Park for their engagement session! While we were exploring the Tetons together, they mentioned that they were getting married in Alaska, as it was a place they had traveled to together before and fallen in love with. Their vision was a whole weekend of celebrating with their closest friends and family, and taking in the beautiful and rugged landscape that Alaska is.

Getting Ready

The venue they chose for both their stay and the wedding itself is the Salted Roots Alaska A-frame cabins. When I tell you I am in love with this venue, I mean it. I would get married there if I could do my wedding all over again! The cabins face the Gulf of Alaska and there’s a little trail to the beach where the ceremony location is. The surrounding area is all forested, and there is a little fire pit and sauna on the property as well.

The morning of the wedding, Cody and Ingrid got ready surrounded by their families.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was held to the sound of soft waves rolling onto the rocky beach and birds singing. Rain clouds that had threatened the sky earlier in the morning broke away to sunshine just for the ceremony. the personal touches to this part of the day were touching. Cody’s brother officiated, and Ingrid brought in a tradition from her heritage. The mothers draped the bride and groom together with a beautiful lasso to signify their mutual care and support for each other in life. It was very emotional for all watching. After the ceremony, Cody and Ingrid exchanged private vows on the beach.

Formals

After dinner at the Flamingo Lounge (one of THE BEST places I ate at in my week in Seward), we went to a quiet beach a few minutes away from their cabins.

After Celebration

It was SO EVIDENT how much those who came loved both Cody and Ingrid. After the formals, we headed back to the cabins so the could cut cake and dance the night away with their closest friends and family. It was so sweet to be a part of and witness.
